HPC II 2011

Course description

This course is given in collaboration between HPC2N, Umeå, and UPPMAX, Uppsala.
The main teachers will be Mikael Rännar, Umeå, and Jarmo Rantakokko and Maya Neytcheva, Uppsala.

Schedule

  • Week 47 (21-25/11): Preparatory work at home
  • Week 48 (28/11-2/12): Lectures in Umeå:
    Fundamental parallel algorithms. General HPC library software and tools. Link to a schedule for the week in Umeå.
  • Week 49 (5-9/12): Homework
  • Week 50 (12-16/12): Lectures in Uppsala:
    HPC techniques and tools. Sample HPC applications.. Link to a schedule for the week in Uppsala
  • Week 51(19-23/12): Project work at home

The weeks in Umeå and Uppsala will start on Monday after lunch and continue until Friday lunch.

Travel and accomodation

Note that you need to contact the hotel and make the room reservations yourself.

Umeå

We are located in the MIT-building on the Umeå University Campus (see map).

For travel and hotel information see http://www.visitumea.se/. The closest hotel is Hotel Björken, located nearby (300m) the MIT-building. Hotel Björken also acts as a patient hotel serving visitors to the University hospital (you may be relocated to another hotel if there are many patients).

Uppsala

The lectures and the labs during the week in Uppsala will take place in Building 1 of the ITC campus, Uppsala University.
